Massage Therapist

About the Opportunity

This is a 3 day a week role within the Allied Care Team providing specialist Massage Therapy with palliative care clients and carers in their homes.

Providing appropriate assessment and delivery of massage services to clients and their carers in consultation with the interdisciplinary team.
Participate in and contribute to team education as appropriate
Contribute to excellent interdisciplinary practice according to the policies and practice of Melbourne City Mission Palliative Care

About you

We are looking for someone who has a minimum of 2 years experience working in a palliative care setting.  The preferred applicant will have the ability to connect well with clients and work collaboratively with our wider MCMPC staff.

Essential Qualification:

Completion of accredited Oncology Massage Training and/or prior massage therapy work experience within palliative care or oncology setting.
Eligible for Membership with a professional massage association (i.e. AAMT, AMT, BTFA, AIMA or ATMS)

Essential Criteria

• Demonstrated competence in providing massage support to people of varied social, cultural and religious backgrounds
• Demonstrated competence in implementing and maintaining self-care routines including reflective practice
• Demonstrated experience in aligning practice with professional standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both face to face and via telephone
• Competence with electronic client records and computer skills
• The ability to conduct training in hand & foot massage for volunteers.
• An ability to accommodate and work with change.

Desirable

• Understanding of loss and grief across the lifespan
• A sound understanding of community based palliative care service provision.

Screening Criteria

• National Police check
• Working with Children check and NDIS Worker Screening check or ability to obtain
• Valid Victorian Drivers license
• Right to Work in Australia
