About the Opportunity

As a Head of Quality Assurance & Risk Management you will lead a team to ensure strong governance, effective risk management and deliver change and transformation by applying quality frameworks and practices. You will be a subject matter expert in human services standards and regulations with a breath of knowledge, combining strategy and operational expertise. In the role you will be accountable for:

  • Keeping the Client at the Centre: Enhancing the services of those we support through prioritising their view, applying best practice standards and evidence to inform quality assurance plans and activities.
  • Building Quality & Risk Capability: Promoting a culture of continuous learning and innovation in service delivery by reviewing and communicating outcomes and supporting capability uplift.
  • Managing the Quality & Risk Department: Leading the end-to-end operational management of the department including team leadership, functional ways of working, project based and cyclic activities, the audit and reporting cycle, governance activities, investigations, chairing the Clinical Governance Committee and acting as the Child Safety Officer for the MCM Group.
  • Leading Strategy: Leading strategic quality and risk initiatives to drive change and improve clinical and practice effectiveness.
  • Building Relationships: Connecting with all levels of the organisation and building a deep understanding of practice areas and programs to build trust, delivering change through personal influence and through others.

About you

We are seeking an experienced quality assurance and risk management leader, who desires greater impact and is energised by change and growth. This is what you will bring to the role, with more detail offered in the position description:

  • Expertise in health and human services sector in a quality assurance and risk role, operating at a senior level where you interacted with executive leadership and work across the organisation.
  • Specialist knowledge of regulations and legislation as they apply to health and human services, with experience in one or more of our practice areas such as homelessness, residential programs, education, health, or disability.
  • Comfort and deep knowledge of quality and risk management department operations and core functions.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to make the complex simple and implement systems.
  • Experience leading practice development, applying the client voice and consulting with the organisation.
  • Exceptional project management and change leadership expertise, working with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience leading a team with exposure to supporting a team through change and transformation.

We are open to candidates based across both Melbourne Metro and Regional Victoria noting that travel will be required to visit sites.

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a senior quality assurance and risk role within the health and human services sector, including one or more of education, health, homelessness or disability services. 
  • Experience working with multiple human services and regulator standards in a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated professional development or certification in discipline specific knowledge areas including but not limited to risk management, quality assurance, change management, policy development or the health and human services.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, accreditation standards and risk management processes in a health/human services environment
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience of governance processes for clinical and practice effectiveness

Screening Criteria:

As part of quality and safeguarding this role will be required to participate and successfully pass the following:

  • National Police check
  • Working with Children check
  • NDIS Worker Screening check or ability to obtain
  • Right to Work in Australia
