MCM’s wonderful team of Speech Pathologists support children with developmental delays around speech and communication as supported under the NDIS program. Our Speech Pathologists work with families to help children confidently say what they want to say, when they want to say it and how they want to say it.
Liana and Katie are two of our wonderful ECIS Speech Pathologists who joined the MCM team as graduates. Their role with MCM involves connecting with families and helping them reach their goals, by trying to uncover what might be affecting the child’s ability to communicate properly and how can it best be overcome.
Liana, who started as a new graduate at the beginning of last year, has collaborated with the MCM team through the pandemic when supports were transitioned to telehealth. She also has had opportunities to work with different allied health professionals, teachers, allied health assistants and learn about the processes of NDIS while on the job.

Liana has found that the ECIS team at MCM is collaborative, where questions are always welcome, and someone is willing to always help out. She also enjoys being able to develop relationships with families, schools and childcares to make a team who support the child in all settings.
I’ve felt really supported at MCM. Our ECIS team is full of really passionate and kind people. I feel very lucky to have started my career with MCM.
Katie, who has previously worked in the MCM disability case management team for over eight years before returning to her tertiary studies to become a speech pathologist, has been with MCM as a speech pathologist for over two years.
As a graduate I wanted a team environment where I could learn from others and run my ideas past people to ensure that I was on the right track. Our team has been great for that.
By being a part of a multidisciplinary team, Katie has been able to develop her own skills to become a more holistic therapist. MCM has also supported Katie in gaining further knowledge to increase her confidence in more complex areas, so she is able to provide the best support to her clients in achieving their speech and communication goals. She finds it very rewarding when a child can clearly communicate how they are feeling to others.
I love our team. Everyone is very passionate about best practice and cares a lot about what they do. It’s fun, positive and supportive.
