MCM remains committed to providing essential services to all Victorians who need our vital support at this time.
Since its launch in March, RACV’s emergency goods assist service has delivered more than 30,000 meals to vulnerable communities across Victoria impacted by COVID-19.
The introduction of the Commonwealth Government’s Early Childhood and Care Relief Package on Monday 6 April cut MCM childcare centre funding in half and prompted MCM to actively advocate to government and in the media for a viable solution to be urgently found to sustain our Early Learning Centres during the COVID-19 outbreak.
MCM welcomes the intention of the Early Childhood package announced by the Commonwealth Government last week, with its focus on sustaining childcare centres during the COVID-19 pandemic and providing families with free childcare, it hasn’t adequately considered the impact on diverse not-for-profits like MCM for whom childcare is only one component of the community services it provides.
MCM is facing the possibility of closing its two Early Learning Centres due to a flaw in the design of the Commonwealth Government’s Early Childhood and Care Relief Package, announced last week.
